I recently purchased a scale suit, pauldrons, and bracers from Torvaldr. I could not be happier with the entire transaction.

Torvaldr is a true craftsman. He even re-did my bracers because he was not happy with the how they looked after the entire kit was complete. His communication was superior. I must have asked about ten million questions over the period of about 10 days when initially ordering. he was always detailed in his e-mails and it was evident that he cared about my needs and was determined to give me what I wanted. He was prompt in answering all of them, even sending me 2 or 3 e-mails a day to help me make choices about the final design. So in short A+ for communication. The armor was delayed slightly, but Torvaldr was honest and up-front about everything and kept me up to date on the status.

All prices were clear, very fair, and discussed up front. A+ for Price.

And well the armor speaks for it self. The scale suit is perfect, fits me like a glove! The bracers are dam near as hard as steel. The pauldrons are tooled with a Celtic boar ...a true masterpiece. Even my girl friend who usually wants nothing to do with my armor commented on how beautiful the work was.

I am now in the process of ordering greeves and a collar to complete my kit.
I will post pics once I get some free time to take them!

If you want armor that will last and people will want to rip off your back....go with Torvaldr and set your mind at ease.

If you should want more information please feel free to contact me.

Torvaldr's Leather elbows are WONDERFUL. I have taken solid blows on the elbow that hurt MUCH less than with my old metal elbows, AND they are lighter. Well worth the cost of admission...and they are pretty!!

In looking for what I call "think different armour" my spear-brother and I opted to try Torvaldr Armoury and Leatherworking and purchased two sets of hardened leather scale from Torvaldr, one in the leaf and one in the dragon design.

Our armour arrived today and it is just beautiful. Each individual scale is actually sewn (using a very expensive and professional machine I presume) to a lightweight but strong canvas vest. The scales overlap and fit together beautifully, and since each one is wax-hardened, they make for very strong but flexible protection. The stitching on each scale looks just like the ones on my western saddle, I don't think detachment is possible in SCA combat.

The 'leaf' suit weighs 15.8 lbs. and the dragon suit weighs 16.7 lbs. on our non-scientific bathroom scale. This may sound like a lot but there is an added bonus that we weren't expecting - because the armour actually comes down to my knees I tried a quick sparring match with only steel knees (from C.L.A.N.G.) and lo and behold, leg wrap shots weren't landing on my thigh.

This is because the armour drapes down below the belt; when I am in an attack stance it actually hangs straight down from the hips. Essentially I wasn't getting hit because the armour would stop the blow a few inches away from the back of my thigh. It's not unlike beating a rug on a clothesline with a broomstick - it just soaks up the force. This stuff really can take a hit.

Dealing with Torvaldr has been a dream: a consummate professional, on-time, and very communicative. I like this so much that I'm happy to say that I've ordered additional stuff from him today.

Personally I think it looks much better in person than the photos, but I am a little biased as I'm wearing it after all.
Thanks Torvaldr!

I actually bought my full rig from Torvaldr from my full leather legs, lamellar chest protection to my custom pauldrons and I would have to say they are incredible, they have taken abuse from transportation, combat and what ever else I could toss at them and they have held form and ridigness perfectly. Not to mention Torvaldr's "after care" to make sure the armor was properly fitted and his availability to fine tune my armor and tweak it to my body at no cost was very much appreciated. Would highly recommend any and all to consider his armor.

I, for one, am very happy with the leather armor that I received from Thorvaldr Leatherworks. I contacted Thorvaldr at Crapaud asking about a leather gorget to replace the ill fitting one I had. Thorvaldr said that he would see me at October Crown that weekend and have it ready for me.

During the days between Crapaud and Crown Throvaldr came down with an aggravated and debilitating bout of arthritis, so I wasn't really expecting him to be able to follow through.

During Roses, I was accosted by a Norseman with a very large walking stick and a equally large smile. Thorvaldr was there and not only there, but had my gorget.

The gorget is perfect. Meets all armor requirements, it's comfortable to wear both over my coif or against my skin. Head movement is unimpaired and there is no sense of binding or choking with it.

Such was my delight, that I have since requested a quote for and will be purchasing bazubands, lamellar and his sexy leather greaves.

Well done Thorvaldr.
